Passion Project Progress Update

Hey Guys! These 3 Pictures above are of level 2. I just finished it. The 1st picture is of the end. There's a ramp you have to go up and platforms you have to jump on to get to the finish line. Just be sure not to fall off, otherwise you'll find yourself in Quicksand! The 2nd Picture is of the rap where you land after flying over the gap. The 3rd is of the start, where you have to run up and down ramps. So, that's level 2. Hope you get to play it soon!

TVNZ6 Net Guide Awards Disappointment

Hi Guys!
Last week I emailed TVNZ6 Net Guide awards to try to get into the Video Game Design category. The thing was, it was only open to Secondary and Intermediate students! This is the form I filled out:

Name: Emily Morris

Email: emily@enrich.net.nz

School: St Theresas and Enrich@ILT

Question: How come the Best Video Game is only open to Secondary and Intermediate Students? I'm a primary Student, so why can't I enter? I'm already making Video Games!

And this is what they sent back:

Hello Emily,
Thank you for your email and your questions regarding this year's Challenge and specifically the age category of the Video Game Design entry. I'm sorry for the disappointment however for 2011 this entry category is only open for Intermediate and Secondary students. In saying that for future challenges we will be reviewing this entry criteria (as we've had similiar emails). Again we apologise that we cannot change anything for this year however changes will be made going forward.
Kind regards
NetGuide Team

It's good that they will change it next year, however I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get to enter. I hope you will change it next year so even more children will get to enter.

Passion Project Progress

Hey Guys! I thought you might want to see how my passion project is going, so here it is! What you're looking at is an original, beach themed game. These 2 levels were fairly easy to create, because it's so simple, but there's still a massive range of options. When I created my first level, it seemed fairly hard. So I changed it to level 3. The first 2 pictures are of the new level 3, while the bottom shot is of the new level 1. I have recently created level 2, so you should see it soon. I also tested the game on several different people, so I am fairly confident that most people will like my game. In my first picture I'm adding some bonus points you can collect on you're journey. In that level you have to collect 10000 points to keep going. The second and third pictures shows my first level, you have to collect 2500 points to go through. Hope you enjoy it!

Talent evaluation feedback

Emily, you have shown amazing persistence throughout your talent development, not just with the building of complex robots but how you had to strive for accuracy when writing your own programmes.
I was impressed with how your group built and programmed two advanced robots. This was an outstanding effort and it was great to see your skills and knowledge grow and develop throughout your talent development.
You made some good links with systems and robotics, do you think there are any systems within systems in the robots?
Are you now going to build on these skills and knowledge build a more complex robot? I can't wait to see if you can programme the robot to speak.
